BOWLING.

VOGELTOWN CLUB. THE ANNUAL MEETING The fourth annual meeting of the Vogeltown Bowling Club was held last night, Mr. F. W. Okey presiding' over a good attendance of members. The annual report (presented by the president) stated: “In placing before the members the fourth annual report of the Vogeltown Bowling Club, I have to state that the past year has been satisfactory both from the financial point of view and also In regard to the playing condition of the green, which played splendidly throughout the season. The Pioneer Cup was presented to Mr. Moore, the winner of the champion singles for the 1920-21 season. As the green remained open for play until May 20, members were able to follow the game for aver seven months. The past) season marked another stage in the progress of the club, inasmuch as the centre made use of the green for the first time in connection with the annual open tournament. The club again competed in the banner matches, and although we cannot claim to have been very successful as regards matches won, the games were thoroughly enjoyed by all the players. ‘I have to congratulate Mr. W. Hooker, the winner of the champion singles, he having pla/ed very consistent bowls throughout; also the runnerup, Mr. W. Healy, who also won the handicap singles from scratch. Owing to our time being very fully occupied with banner matches this season, there was not quite so much play for the Dobson bowls and the Hookham medals as in the preceding season, but nevertheless some very interesting and enjoyable games were played. Mr. Alldridge was engaged as caretaker at the commencement of the past season, and I think must be congratulated on the condition of the green throughout the season. Your committee recommend that the club be incorporated with the registrar of incorporated societies, and with this object in view have drafted rules, which may be inspected, if desired, and if approved by this meeting "’ill be submitted to the registrar for registration. I wish to thank all those who have assisted the club by donations, the roller being paid for almost entirely by donations; and in this connection I would especially mention Mr. Griffiths, who donated the asphalting of the floor of the pavilion. I would also thank all those who assisted In performing work about the green, and also most heartily those ladies who were always willing to help In every way. I mu-.t also record my appreciation of the assistance given by the Press at all times. Finally, I would ask members during the coming season to endeavor to obtain new members, and by their hearty co-operation with the incoming officers to maintain the enthusiasm which has been responsible for the steady progress of the club up to the present time.’’ The chairman thought the club could congratulate itself on tbe balance sheet, and i? was very satisfactory that the greens for such n young club were In such good condition. The standard of play had improved, and he hoped that play would improve more during the coming season. The balance sheet disclosed the financial affairs of the club to be in a sound position. The report and balance sheet were adopted. The election of officers resulted: President, Mr. V. Griffiths; vice-president, Mr. Chas. Robinson; committee, Messrs. C. Dobson, P. W. Okey, W. Healy, R. Tippins, and C. Hoskin; secretary and treasurer, Mr. A. C. Evans ; delegate to the centre, Mr. A. T. Moore; selector, left open; green warden, Mr. V. Griffiths ; auditor, Mr. Frank Shepherd. It was decided to de. ite a pipe to the caretaker (Mr. Alldridge) for the excellent work he had done on the green. The secretary was voted a honorarium, as a slight mark of appreciation of his valuable services. Subject to everything being in order, the drafted rules for incorporating the club were adopted. Matters concerning the trust were left in the hands of a committee to obtain legal advice. It was resolved that all bowls usdd in club or inter-club matches should be officially stamped. A hearty vote of thanks was accorded the ladies for their assistance during the year, and to the outgoing committee. It was decided that the championship bo decided by the same means as last year, with a time-limit to be fixed by the committee.
