A London cablegram reports the death of Sir George Parkin, organising representative Of the Rhodes Scholarship Trust.

A New York cable reports the death of Mr. William Rockefeller, a former president of the Standard Oil Company, and a brother of John D. Rockefeller.

Another old and respected resident of Wanganui has passed away in the person of Mr. Ambrose Woolford, of Halswell Street. The deceased, who had reached the ripe age of 82, arrived in New Zealand in 1874 in the old sailing r hip Edwin Fox. Besides Mrs. Woolford, Give sons and seven daughters, he also | leaves 58 grandchildren and 52 great- _• randchildren.

Mr. Meyer Caselberg, formerly managing director of the Wairarapa Farmers’ Co-operative Association, died at Masterton late on Friday night at the age of 81 years. Mr. Caselberg was first married in 1888 to a daughter of Mr. Mark Marks, of Melbourne, and so was a brother-in-law of the late Mr. Joseph Nathan, of Wellington.

Miss Mira Whiteside, who recently passed the examination as a surgeon dentist at the Otago, University, has been appointe<l by the Government as officer in charge of the dental clynic at Wanganui. Miss Whiteside is the first lady in New Zealand to graduate and qualify for a diploma at the Otago University in this profession.
