HAGEN WINS CHAMPIONSHIP. By Telegraph.—Press Assn.—Copyright. London, June 23. In his match against Gray, in the third round Kirkwood took 80 and 78 to get round. He was completely out of form. Hagen won with a score of 300. Received June 25, 5.5 p.m. London, June 24. Scores in the championship are: Hagen 300, Barnes and Duncan 301, Hutchison 802, C. Whltcombe 303, Taylor 304, Gaasiat 30<5, Vardon and Walton 307, Alliss 308, Haven 310, Mitchell 312, Micliael Scott 313, Compston 315, Wethered 317, Tolley 319. Received June 25, 11.5 p.m. London, June 24. The final roupds were played in a strong wind with intermittent rain squalls. Hagen did his last round in 72, his play being characterised by deadly approaches and his run shots were brilliant. He is the first American-bred professional to win the British golfing blue riband. Hutchinson’s third round included 14 fours. Duncan’s lust round was most sensational; he gave a wonderful performance against adverse conditions, going out in 34 and home in 35. It was the finest round of the championship. At the last tee Duncan wanted four strokes to tie, and. amidst most Intense excitement, the ball stopped a couple of inches from tlie lip of the hole. This failure left Hngen the winner. Kirkwood, Interviewed, said he was much disappointed at the result and felt he had not done himself justice. He had come to England convinced he would play even bettor than he had done in Australia and in tbe United States. Still he hoped to return and make another attempt to capture the British championship. Luck had not been altogether with him, Lut he felt he had no cause to grumble at it.
