NATIONAL BANK DIVIDEND. By Telegraph.—Press Assn.—Copyright. London, June 23. The National Bank of New Zealand, after paying £15,000 bonus to the staff, made a net profit of £328,621. A dividend of 12 per cent, and a bonus of 2 per cent., tax free, was decided. The amount, placed to premises account was £30,000, to reserve £lO,OOO, to pension fund £6500, carried forward £142,121. AUSTRALIAN MARKETS. Melbourne, June 23. Hides.—Firm. All good conditioned parcels sold at slightly improved rates; kips unchanged. NEW GUINEA DEVELOPMENT. London, June 23. A meeting of ordinary and preference shareholders in the British New Guinea Development Company approved proposals to wind up voluntarily and form a new company with a capital of £875,000. The directors pointed out that, unless this scheme or some reasonable alternative was adopted, the debenture holders would appoint a receiver, in which event it was to be feared the shareholders’ interests would be entirely extinguished. REPORT. The Farmers’ Co-op. Organisation Society of New Zealand Ltd., report for the week ending Saturday, June 17, 1922 : On Tuesday, 13th inst., we conducted a clearing sale on account of Mr. J. Neilson on the Eltham Road, Te Kiri. The sale was far from- being satisfactory, this being due to the fact that the .herd had been somewhat neglected, thus causing lack of confidence on the part of the buyers. Young cows made to £lO, the bulk of the herd only realised £4. to £7. Sundries and implements sold at late rates. On the same day at Mr. Lewis Babbington’s, Hastings Road, Matapu, prices were much better. Good young cows making up to £l3. Older sorts from £6 to £B, culls and % cows £1 to £3. On Wednesday the 14th inst., we conducted an auction on account of Mr. F. H. Stanhope, Bali Road. There was a good attendance of buyers, farm implements and sundries in good order bringing value. Good dairy cows unade up to £l7.' Dairy cows not so much quality £6 to £ll, older cows and backward sorts not much demand £3 10s. Bidding on the better class cows was well maintained to the end of the sale. Pedigree Jersey heifers 22gns., pedigree Jersey bulls 3-year-old 20gns, grade Jersey heifers springing; good quality £9 to £l2. On the same day at our Eltham yards we held our fortnightly sale. Store cows sold at late rates, competition being dull on all lines of dry stock. However, we report a clearance of most lines. Dairy herd on account of Mr. Jas. Barras brought a fair average, good quality cows were in demand, good young sorts showing forward sold well. On Thursday, 15th, at Hawera, we held our fortnightly sale. A fair yarding of store and dairy cattle was offered and we report a good sale. Good store pigs £1 ss, fat hoggets 17s, good forward store wethers £1 Bs, fat cows and heifers £4 Is to £4 15s, boner and store cows 15s onwards. Well-grown Jersey weaners £4 12s Cd, mixed weaner heifers £1 8s to £2 9s, dairy heifers springing £6 10s to £8 10s, dairy cows brought to £l2 for best sorts. Also on th© 15th at Otakeho we conducted an auction of pedigree and gradei dairy stock on account of Mr. G. H. Buckeridge. Buyers were in attendance, the cattle came in good order and the arrangements for the auction helped to make a successful sale. The dairy herd of grade cows averaged better than £l2. Th© pedigree cattle were in good condition and competition keen. The best price was 51gns., Lily's Pet, a beautiful type ol dairy cow, purchased by Mr. A. Guy, Koninis Eileen 35gns., Mr. Muggeridge, Koninis Pet 37gns., Mr. Alf. Coplestone, pedigree bull Gold Boy 22gns., Fairy’s Marvel 23gns., yearling bull 10%gns. On Friday 16th we had a fair entry at our , Waverley yards, small store pigs 13s, bigger stores £1 4s, P.B. Romney lambs 2%.gn5., do ewes 2 1-3 gns. Line good wethers £1 2s Id. fair mouth ewes in lamb 13s, fat cows and heifers £4, store do £1 to £1 10s, weaner heifers, Jersey cross £3 2s, dairy heifers to £8 15s. At Kaponga on the same day we rejiort a small entry, boners and store cows bringing lat© rates, Jersey cross weaner heifers to £3 On Friday the 16th inst., we held a very < successful clearing sale on account of Mr. C. IS. Barclay. The cows were a good lot, in good condition and early calvers. Prices were on the whole very satisfactory, and ranged from £5 10s to £l5 10s. Taking the herd an average was struck of £ll 10s. Two geldings were sold for £3O and £23 respectively, milk waggon £4O, farm implements and sundries in good order brought full value. On Saturday the 17th, at Mere Mere we held a sale of Mr. H. D. McDonald. There was a good attendance and bidding was fairly well maintained throughout. Th© implement afid farm sundries in very good order brought value. Drill £3l, mower £lO, waggon £72, line hoggets 14s, store wethers 12s 6d and 17s 6d, small lambs 'ss, mare all work £27, geldings £25 to £2O, useful waggon mare £l6, 20-month steers £2 4s, 2%year steers £2 Bs, empty heifers £2 14s, dairy cows unade £l2 to £l5 for the best cows, others £5 to £9.
