FEDERAL ELECTIONS.
THE PROBABLE DATE. By Telegraph.—Press Assn.—Copyright. Sydney, June 24. Unless the Government should be defeated meantime, it is unlikely the Federal election will be held until Parliament expires by effluxion of time in February. It is understood that Mr. Hughes’ stumping trip through the various States convinced him that nothing would be gained by an earlier appeal to the people. NEXT SESSION’S PROGRAMME. Melbourne, June 24. Mr. Hughes has announced that the Cabinet has put the finishing touches on the programme for next session. It is understood the Governor-General’s speech will deal with supply, superannuation for the public service, ratification of the provisional tariff agreement between Australia and New Zealand, redistribution of seats, amendments to the Defence and Arbitration Acts, uniformity of company legislation, and land and income taxation.
