“A PROFESSIONAL BIGAMIST.” London, June 22. A naturalised Russian named Lazarus, who married six women in addition to his lawful wife, was sentenced at the Old Bailey to five years’ penal servitude. The public prosecutor described Lazarus as a professional bigamist. Accused staed he was asked by foreigners to marry foreign women of a certain class desirous of becoming British subjects. He left these wives at the registry Office doors after receiving £lO to £2O for his services in each case.
