AUSTRALIAN FOOTBALLERS.
ARRIVE BY TO-NIGHT’S TRAIN. ARRANGEMENTS FOR VISIT. The Australian Association football team will arrive at New Plymouth tonight and play the Taranaki representatives at the Pukekura Park sports ground on Wednesday. They will 'be met at the station by the Fourth Battalion (Wellington Regiment) Band and will be driven to their temporary headquarters at the Imperial Hotel, taxidrivers having generously offered their cars free of -charge -for the occasion. To-morrow the Australians will be entertained at the Victoria League rooms at 10 a.m., when the Mayor will formally welcome them- Afterwards they will partake of morning tea at the invitation of some members of the Victoria League. New Plymouth “Soccer” friends are asked to be in attendance at this function and to stay to the morning tea. Those intending to participate are asked to notify Mr. L. C. H. DawsonFollowing the reception the visitors will be taken round the town and shown places of interest, including Marsland Hill, the Recreation Ground and the racecourse. At 2 p-m. several gentlemen have promised to meet them at their hotel with cars and take them for a run round the countryside, celling at the Meeting of the Waters. Messrs. Solo Bros, have also offered the freedom of “Aotea” if the visitors have time to visit there. At 7.45 p.m. the Australians will be entertained at Everybody’s Theatre by invitation of the manager (Mr. Saunders). On Wednesday morning the visitors will probably want time to attend to match preparation, so arrangements have been left open. The match will commence at 2.15 p.m. sharp. After the game a dinner will be held at the Imperial Hotel at 6 p.m. The Australians leave for Auckland on Thursday by the mail train at 7.20 a m.
