In the House of Lords, Lord Islington moved a motion that the mandate ©ver Palestine was not acceptable to Britain, because ninety per cent, of the people in Palestine were non-Zionists. Lord Balfour, in his maiden speech, characterised Lord Islington’s fears as fantastic. No racial or religious tyranny would be permitted. The motion was carried by 60 to 29. r-Aus.-NZ. Cable Assn.
