CHEERS FOR PRINCE.

LONDON’S GREAT WELCOME. SCENES IN THE STREET. KING OFFERS THANKS. Telegraph.—Press Assn.—Copyright. London, June 21. Tanned by eight months’ travel, the Prince of Wales returned to-day and received a spontaneous and magnificent welcome on his arrival at Paddington Station. He was affectionately greeted by the King and Queen Mary, Queen Alexandra, Princess Mary and other members of the Royal family. The Prince shook hands with Mr. Lloyd George and the Japanese Ambassador. Others in the party on the platform included mem* bers of the Cabinet, the Archbishop of Canterbury, the Lord Mayor, Lord Haig, and Lord Beatty. After the official reception the King and the Prince of Wales, with the Duke of York and Prince Henry opposite, drove in an open landau at the head of a procession along befiagged and crowded streets to Buckingham Palace to the • accompaniment of continuous cheering. Received June 22, 5.5 p.m. London, June 22. The scenes of enthusiasm were renewed at Buckingham Palace, where tens of thousands, chiefly women, gathered shouting: “We want our Prince.” Waving his cocked hat from the balcony the Prince responded to the call, the crowd cheering delightedly and women waving handkerchiefs. The King, as a thanks-offering for the Prince’s safe return, sent £5OO to the London hospitals’ appeal, and the Duke of Connaught sent £lOO. The King, in a message to the nation, said: **The Queen and I were deeply touched by to-day's remarkable demonstration. Our joy in welcoming our dear son was increased by the affectionate enthusiasm of his reception by the vast crowds in the streets. He has safely returned to London after a responsible tour, and I am confident my people share our humble thanks to God on this memorable day.”
