Tn the Davis Cup tie between Britain and Italy, the doubles resulted:— Kingscote and Kiselev (Britain) beat Balbi and Colombo (Italy) 6—l, 6—4, 6—o. Britain thus wins the round. Received June 21, 5.5 p.m. London, June 20. The Italians were quite off their game, and the Englishmen, who had never played together before, won easily. The English selectors made a bad mistake in selecting Risely, a retired wteran of 46. iastead of testing a younger player conversant with the «peedy, modern game. INDIA BEATS RUMANIA. Received June 21, 5.5 p.m. London, June 20. In the Davis Cup tie between India and Rumania, A. H. Fyzee (India; beat M»bu (Rumania) 4—6. 6—l, 7—5. India had previously won two matches. A. H. Fyzee and C. Ramaswami (India) defeated N. Mishu and Stern (Rumania) 6—2, 6—4, 6—o. Fyzee (India) defeated Stern (Rumania) 6—o, 6—l, 6—l. The results of the first round to date are: — Britain defeated Italy. France defeated Denmark. India defeated Rumania.
