In view of the community singing ttffet is to take place in the King’s Theatre, Stratford, to-night, it will be interesting to know how the movement was iniated in Auckland last Week. The Auckland Herald says: If there is anything in the dictum “sing and be happy,’’ Auckland certainly must have been the most happy spot in New Zealand on Wednesday afternoon last, for at midday there took place the most successful initiation of community singing that has yet been recorded in the Domnion. The Town Hall was crowded long before the opening hour, and by the time the singing started people were standing three deep in the aisles of the dress circle and crowding into the seats at the back of the platform, the attendance being estimated at 4000. To hear that huge gathering singing -with the accumulated lung power of 4000 men and women was nothing less than inspiring, while the happiness that radiated from the faces of white-haired old men and women, lusty youths in their teens, venerable clergymen, professional men, business girls from offices, shop and factory certainly seemed to verify all claims made by the promoters of community singing. The Stratford Musical Society will lead the community singing at the King’s Theatre to-night, when all the most popular melodies will 'be sung. The picture programme includes the “Cup of Life,” starring Hobart Bosworth. It is a thrilling story of the pearl smugglers of Old Singapore. The above programme will be screened to-night only. To-morrow night it will be replaced by the great super-production “The Confession.” The prices for to-night remain as usual. Box plans at Humphrey’s,, Broadway, Stratford.

At the Foresters’ Hall, Stratford, on Thursday, June 15, under the auspices of the New Plymouth Spiritualistic Church, Mr. J.
