A motion of sympathy with Cr. R. LParkin, in the loss of his son was passed at. last night’s meeting of the New Flymouth Borough Council, standing in silence. It is stated that Mr. G. H. M'Clure, Commissioner for Crown Lands, Wellington district, has resigned from the service and will be a candidate for the Otaki eeat in the interest of the United Liberal Labor Party. It is understood that there is every likelihood of Mr. J’. B. Hine again contesting the Stratford seat against Mr. R. Masters, M.P., at this year’s general election (says the Eltham Argus).

At last night’s meeting of the New Plymouth High Schools’ Board, a resolution was passed sympathising with Mr. L. A. Nolan in his illness, and expressing the board’s pleasure at hearing fie 1 was making so good a recovery.

A presentation from the magistrates and members of the Auckland Magistrate's Court staff was made to Mr. J. Terry, until recently clerk of the Court, who has been appointed registrar of the Supreme Court at Auckland. Mr. Terry was formerly clerk of the Court at New Plymouth. An X-ray examination was made yesterday morning upon Mr. C. Kingston, the footballer who was injured in a motor-car accident on Saturday night, and on inquiry it was ascertained that his condition was quite satisfactory. Certain processes of the vertebrae have been detached by fracture, and, although his injuries are not desperate, his condition is such that it will be some time before he is fit again.
