LABOR CONFERENCE.
DISORDERLY SCENES. ELECTION PROPOSALS BRIGHTER. By Telegraph.—Press Assn.—-Copyright. Received June 18, 5.5 p.m. Sydney, June 17. The Labor Conference concluded its sitting amid disorderly scenes arising out of Mr. MGdrr’s charges against his fellow members in the late Ministry. The report of the committee of inquiry into the charges was in favor o-f Mr. McGirr, but the majority present was opposed, and, amid wild disorder of charges and counter-charges, the conference eventually threw overboard the motion to adopt the report, and passed an amendment to refer the whole matter to the incoming executive. When the president was able to obtain a hearing, in declaring the conference closed, he said the result of its labors was that labor in the future would be more solid, and with the better understanding amongst the ranks, the prospects for the Federal elections were far brighter than they were for the late State elections.—Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn. Sydney, June 17. The Labor Conference is being restricted to non-platform motions, as the delegates preeel t are less than the number required, by the constitution for alterations on ihe platform. A stormy scene was provoked by the allegations of one delegate that the ballot box in connection with the executive elections had been tampered with. The president characterised the charge as absurd. The confeience' will probably terminate to-night.
