CAPTURE OF BURGLARS. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Auckland, June 15. Two men were arrested late last night charged with burglary at the Royal Hotel, Victoria Street. They were discovered through a noise made by the breaking open of a case of whisky on a vacant section, and in the Struggle one of two policemen was knocked down and stunned. One of the suspects escaped, but was subsequently captured. ENGINEERS’ DISPUTE. Wellington, June 15. The Conciliation Council was engaged to-day hearing a die-pute between the Amalgamated Engineers’ Union and the employers. Both sides filed claims for variations in wages and conditions. The union claimed a 40-hour week and the employers 47 hours. A long discussion ensued on the point openly an.d in committee, but no decision was arrived at. It was -suggested that Christchurch might ibe a better place to discuss the question, as the principal centre of the trade.
