GERMAN GOODS.
COMING TO AUSTRALIA!, INFLUENCE OF TARIFF. THOUSANDS OF. PIANOS. By Telegraph.—Press Assn. —Copyright. Received June 15, 5.5 p.m. London, June 14. The Australian Press Association learns that German shipments of goods to Australia are likely to be restricted until definite news is received regarding tariff rates. Two Australian-bound steamers visited Hamburg last week, but only lifted a small quantity of cargo. The Holland-Austra-lian liner Aagtekerk took a few tons of miscellaneous stuff ; the Port Curtis took about 450 tons, of which 370 were of potash, the remainder being largely cheap tops, glassware, and some iron. It is understood that a very large quantity of goods is ready for shipment if the tariff permits a profitable sale. One item consists of 8000 pianos, which have been ready for two years. ANOTHER LINE TO TRADE. Received June 15, 10.50 p.m. Sydney, June 15. It is officially announced that the Commonwealth Government Line of steamers has decided to extend its activities to Germany. The first steamer for Australia, the Parattas, will leave Hamburg on July 4. Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn.
