JAPANESE AFFAIRS.
THE NAVY PROGRAMME. By Telegraph.—Press Asrr—Conyriiht. Tokio, June 13. Mr. Suzuki, Consul-General for Japan, states that the cablegram received on the 6th is to a large extent erroneous. It was probably based on an article from a Japanese newspaper, whose source of in- ■ formation was not authoritative. According to official advice received by him, Japan’s shipbuilding programme after the conference has not been definitely fixed. The size of the cruisers in still under consideration and, in any case, the number is not expected to reach a figure which could alarm the most timorous critics. The number of auxiliay ships will be far fewer than were included in the programme previous to the Washington Conference. WASHINGTON TREATIES. Tokio, June 13. Admiral Kato has issued a statement to the effect that the new Ministry is prepared to make effective all details of the Washington treaties affecting Japan.
