The Labor Conference further discussed the Brisbane objective and decided, by 97 votes to 11, that all States be requested to call an inter-State conference to reconsider the Brisbane objective. Aiderman Poyrer was elected president of the party. UNIFICATION WANTED. Sydney, June 12. The conference of union delegates and the industrial workers’ group passed a resolution that the conference was convened only to enforce the decisions of the June conference of 1921 held at Melbourne, and 1 to suggest means for giving effect to the . programme decided upon there. It was further resolved that (1) Parliamentary group members refusing to execute the mandates of the State Council 5e immediately recalled and their resignations tendered; (2) that any Parliamentary member refusing to obey be disqualified for life. It also recommended the reorganisation of the trades union movement on lines providing for the complete unification of the political and industrial sections, by replacing the present Labor Councils with a Common wealth Council, supported by the State, and sectional councils based u the industrial group . scheme. MODERATES GAIN A POINT. Received June 12, 5.5 pin. Sydney, June 12. The Labor Conference motion summoning an Inter-State Conference to reconsider the Brisbane objective is regarded as p signal victory for the moderates. The majority of speakers contended that they were in favor of the principles of the new objective, but not of the methods as laid down in the riding of the chairman in declaring the motion not within the jurisdiction of the conference. On. being challenged, he further ru' s that, in the event of other States refusing to grant the conference, or such conference failing to effect an alteration in the constitution as desired, the New' South Wales branch should loyally abide by the decision of the Brisbane conference and the objective then adopted.
