ENGLISH MARATHON RACE. By Telegraph.—Press Assn.—Copyright. London, June 10. Mills, of the Leicester Harriers, won for the third successive year the Marathon race of 26 Kniles 385 yards, from Windsor to Stamford Bridge, .in 2 hours 47mir. 30sec. Malvicini, an Italian, was second, his time being 2 hours 54min. 25sec. Jansen, a Dane, was third, and took 2 hours 56min. Bsec. This is the English Marathon race. The last Olympic Marathon, in 1920, was won by Kohlrriainen, of Finland. His time was 2 hours 32min. 35 4-ssec. for 26 miles. OLYMPIC GAMES. AUSTRALIA MUST PREPARE. Received June 1 2. 5.5 p.m. Sydney, June' 12. Mr. Merrett, secretary of the Australian Olympic Council, who has returned from abroad, said that sport was booming everyI where, and Australia would have to act at Once if she wished to compete with credit at the Olympic Games. He was particularly struck with the scientific methods of training adopted in America and elsewhere, and was convinced that unless Australia adopts similar 'methods she cannot hope for success at the games.
