CARPENTIER’S FUTURE PLANS. By Telegraph.—Press Assn.—Copyright. New York, June 10. Deschamps has cabled Tex Rickard that Carpentier is unable to accept an offer to meet Greb in the United States this summer or autumn, as he will meet Nilles in September and Beckett in October. THIS WEEK’S TOURNAMENT. C. Whitaker, the well-known New Zealand heavyweight, who is to meet J. Heeney, the champion middleweight, on Saturday night, will arrive in New ’Plymouth from Wellington by the train to-morrow night; and Heeney, will arrive from Gisborne on Thursday. Both men are confident of winning. McAsey and Richardson, the principals in the professional bout on Thursday night, are pleasing their admirers by the work they are doing, and a close and exciting contest is anticipated. The amateurs are reminded that they must appear in the ring clad in regulation costume, which must be of dark color, and they will also have to pay a registration fee of 2s 6d unless they are already registered. For the convenience of patrons a box plan has been opened at Collier’s. The secretary of the New Plymouth Boxing Association requests members to call at his office in order to have their names entered in the register of members, as the record of last year’s members has been lost. ’ Members whose subscriptions have been paid have already been entered in the register, and may receive their tickets at any time.
