Orders for papers may also be left with him. TECHNICAL SCHOOL/ OLD PUPILS’ ASSOCIATION. June 9. The staff of the Stratford Technical High School held a ball in the new school building last night. The primaryobject of the function was to discuss the advisability of forming an old pupils’ association, and although this was not made widely known, there was a fair response to the invitations issued, and an enjoyable evening was spent. The rooms of the building were decorated for the occasion, and the domestic science room made a good dancing floor, the music being supplied by Mr. C. Fox (piano) and Mr. C. Rogers (violin). After supper the question of forming an old pupils’ association was discussed, and it was decided this course should be adopted. Those present then proceeded to the election of officers. The following officers were elected: President, Mr. F. Bowler, secretary, Mr. Richard Masters; committee, Messrs. G. Hall, R. R. Tyrer, Harry Masters, A. I Rawles, R. Wood, Miss I. Moon, Miss Gernhoefer. DARRAGH CARD SHIELD. The Stratford-Te Popo match for the Darragh Shield last night at Te Popo resulted in a win for the visitors by 10 games. Following are the scores, Stratford being mentioned first at each table:—J. Neal and E. Gibson 5, B. Agent and J. Cook 6; F. Jepson and D. N. Cook 8, v. Miss Pratt; Mrs. Glasgow v. Miss Copping. The local Anglican church committee held the first of their winter series of socials in the Midhirst Hall on June 7. Like its predecessors of previous years, it was an -outstanding success. Over a hundred attended, and it was agreed by one and all to have been the most enjoyable and pleasant of evenings. Songs were rendered by Misses Ki veil and Fugal and Messrs. Walker and Breen, Mis’s Taylor being the accompanist. Music for the dancing was supplied by several ladies and gentlemen, all of whom were kind enough to give their services, whilst the supper was served by the ladies, who provided many toothsome delicacies of their own baking, to which the assembly did full justice.
