HINTS TO DAIRYMEN.
BARRENESS. As some animals are constitutionally barren, nothing can be done to remedy this form of sterility, which others may only have some slight defect, which is easily curable, providing always the animal has proper treatment. Barrenness in highly-bred stock racy be caused by too close inbreeding. Another cause of barrenness may be produced by allowing the cow to become excessively fat or vice versa. Misapplied douching infrequently sets up inflammatory conditions, which eventually produce sterility, although the most common cause is due to the action of a micro-organism living along the urino-genital tract, causing the canal to become acid, which destroys the vitality of the male sperm, therefore producing a period of barrenness. An animal suffering from this form of sterility shows, upon parting the lips of the vulva, a slight rash. The best cure in this instance is to insert once of Dr. Ring’s “abortoids.” These abortoids are “nonpoisonous” and “non-irritating,” yet at the same time they are strongly ‘•'antiseptic,” and absolutely safe in the hands of the most inexperienced; their efficiency is undoubted, their cost low enough to be in the reach of all. Excepting in very bad cases, one abortoid is sufficient. They are sold in boxes of one dozen at ss. Every farmer should nave these on hand. Send postal note for 5s to A. L. Hunter. P.O. Box 231.
