SOUTHERN FREEZING COMPANY. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Oamaru, Last Night. A largely-attended meeting of shareholders of the Waitaki Farmers’ Freezing Company, held at Glenavy on Saturday, unanimously decided to postpone action regarding building works until the annual meeting in six months’ time. The directors were empowered to enter into negotiations with the New Zealand Refrigerating Company to purchase the ihikeuri Works. Notice of motion was fiven that the company go into voluniary liquidation. THEFT OF POSTAL PACKETS. Napier, June 10. At the Police Court, George Horace Fletcher, 21, a postman, who admitted the theft of seven postal packets, was wmmitted for sentence. DISMISSED NURSE’S CLAIM. Dannevirke, June 10. The Waipawa Hospital Board yesterday dealt with a claim for £3O by a nurse who was recently dismissed from the Dannevirke hospital by referring the matter to its solicitor, and decided to request the Health Department to hold a. departmental inquiry into various matters arising out of the dismissal. THE BLACKBERRY PEST. Wairoa, June 10. Yesterday a large representative meeting of settlers from all parts of the district passed a strongly worded resolution demanding that the Government eet up Blackberry Boards to take immediate drastic steps to check and eradicate the blackberry pest. Many thousand acres of splendid land is threatened with ruin unless something is speedily done. The Crown and Native owners are the worst offenders. RUNAWAY TRAMCAR. Wellington, June 10. <jnaway tramcar this morning had a 'SOBKirkably safe run over a mile. The ca was empty and standing at the Botan Ml Gardens. Tinakori Road, when by goiM means the brakes ware loosened and it started ’off on the down grade. The motorman and conductor were standing on the footpath, and were unable to catch up to the moving car. Fortunately no up cars appeared on the track during the speedy run, or else there might have been a disaster. When the car reached the junction with Moles■worth Street it jumped the rails and crossed the footpath, and ended its career in a vacant section. The car was slightly damaged. FEEDING THE ALL BLACKS. Wellington, June 10. After hearing counsel, Mr. Justice Salmond this morning gave judgment in the training camp case, Agartha Downes, proprietress of the boarding-house where the All Blacks were accommodated during training for the third test, v. the New Zealand Rugby Union. Plaintiff claimed damages, also remuneration at 17s 6d per -man per day. His Honor held that damages were not recoverable, and that the union’s offer of Ils a day was inadequate and increased it to 13s.
