THE WINTER SHOW
CONCLUDED ON SATURDAY The New Plymouth Winter Show was concluded on Saturday in fine weather, the attendance, while good, being hardly up to that of last year. However, taken all round, the receipts were slightly in excess of the previous year. The Battalion Band again rendered a programme of music that was much appreciated, while later in the evening an auction sale of produce was conducted by Mr. K. Kirk and realised a good sum. In. this connection the society have to thank the donors of produce,. etc., and particularly those in charge of the boys’ and girls’ agricultural club, who donated' the whole of that exhibit. Various competions were drawn, resulting as follows:—Crepe de chine blouse length, S. Bovin; bantam, J. A. Kurth; bungalow, W. G. Taylor (re- I donated and sold at auction sale). The ladies again worked hard, as m* deed they have done during the whole show, once again placing the society under a deep debt of gratitude. Mr. W. B. Grant, the president, has also been indefatigable in his attention to the interests of the society, and he lias had the assistance of a hard-working band of officials, of whom no one is entitled to more praise than the capable secretary (Mr. W. P. Okey). '
