A London cable says Mr. “Pussyfoot” Johnson is due in England on July 1. He goes to New Zealand on July 21 in the interests of the world league against I alcoholism. The honor recently conferred, upon Sir Walter Carncross was referred to at Saturday’s meeting of the Eltham County Council, when on the motion bf the chairman (Mr. C. J. Belcher) congratulations were extended to Sir Walter and appreciative reference was made to his honoured career. A Melbourne cable says the Navy Board, has announced that Admiral Dumaresq' is seriously ill at Manila, and there is small hope of his recovery. Admiral Dumaresq recently retired from the command of the Australian Fleet, his period having expired. He came to New Zealand in H.M.A.S. Melbourne a few months ago. Mr. M. E. Fitzgerald, engineer to the Eltham County Council, was recently called to Auckland to receive at the hands of the Governor-General, Lord Jellicoe, the 6.8J3. • for war services rendered. At Saturday’s meeting of the Eltham County Council Mr. Fitzgerald received the congratulations of the council.
