Brown, F, Jepson, W. McQuay, H. Summerfield, G. Knight, A. Hutchins, P. Healy, R. Kilpatrick, P. James, W. Foley. The lorry will leave the post office at 7 p.m. sharp. THE STRATFORD CABARET. A most enjoyable evening was spent at the No. 1 cabaret in the Town Hall on Tuesday night. All the available tables were taken up, and the gallery of the hall was crowded with spectators. Dancing was indulged in to excellent music by Fox’s orchestra, and exhioition jazzing was given by Miss Tuke and Mr. Kirkby. The Stratford Marble Bar was responsible for xne refreshments, and their staff assiduously attended to the wants of the patrons. In view of the great success of the first cabaret, the second, to be held on Tuesday, June 20, is eagerly looked forward to. LICENSING COMMITTEE. The annual meeting of the Stratford Licensing Committee was held in the Courthouse yesterday. Mr. A, M. Mowlem, SjM., (chairman) presided. A license was granted to D.« W. D. Darragh (Club Hotel, Stratford) subject to repairs and" renewals affecting the balcony being carried out to the satisfaction of the police. A wholesale license was granted D. J. Malone.

D. Wareham’s application for a license for the Mount Egmont Hotel, Midhirst, was adjourned for one month, the police to report in the interim. The application of C. A. Gray for a license for the Commercial Hotel, Stratford, was granted subject to repairs being done to the satisfaction of the police. The application of Robert Fairweather for a license for the Railway Hotel, Inglewood, was adjourned for one month, pending improvements in the bathroom. •Renewals of licenses were granted to the following: W. P. Kirkwood (County Hotel), E. W. Whittle (Stratford Hotel D. E. N. Cook (Empire Hotel), George Buchanan (Junction Hotel, Toko), W. T. Pettett (Whangamomona Hotel), E. L. Saunders (Inglewood Hotel), Albert Rae (Tariki Hotel). GENERAL ITEMS. The first of a series of nursing lectures was delivered by Dr. W. P. P. Gordon at St. Andrew’s Hall last night. The lectures are being given under the auspices of the St. John Ambulance Association. There was a good attendance at last night’s lecture, which was a very interesting one. At a meeting of the Plunket Society yesterday it was decided that owing to the present ■ season necessitating SU P* plies being imported, cut flowers will be sold on Saturdays only. Early narcissi are now coming to hand trom New Plymouth, and will be on view m Bellringer’s window.
