SALE OF DAIRY PRODUCE
MONTHLY AUCTION SCHEME. ADOPTED BY SOUTH ISLAND. ENCOURAGING NEW MARKETS. By Telegraph.—Press Associatiof Christchurch, Last Night. At the South Island Dairy Association meeting, this afternoon, Mr. C. P. Agar moved: "That this meeting of members of the South Island Dairy Association expresses approval of the adoption of the system of a monthly auction scheme for New Zealand dairy produce, and that the National Dairy Association be written to requesting it to obtain an expression of opinion from the June conference regarding this scheme, and that, if it is acceptable t to the North Island, the South Island Dairy Association will call a special meeting of representatives from both Islands to consider the matter.” Mr Agar said that if monthly sales were held farmers would get their money straight away. Mr. G. Binnie (Wjaiarara), who had brought up a similar scheme four years ago, seconded the motion. Mr. A. H. Macknell, in supporting the motion, said the meeting had done the North Island a good turn in rejecting the pooling schemes. He believed the proposal to hold monthly sales would be accepted by the whole of the North Islaud. Looking to the future, he anticipated that trade could be established with America, Canada, India, Java and other places, and monthly sales would bring this about quicker than any other method.
