MAGISTRATE’S COURT.
NEW PLYMOUTH SITTING. A sitting of the Magistrate’s Court was held at New Plymouth yesterday morning, Mr. A. M. Mowlem, S.M., occupying the bench. For leaving motor-cars standing in the street at night without having proper lights on them, Stephen Roebuck and R. B. Gray were convicted and fined £1 (costs 7s), the information being brought by Inspector E. C. King. On a similar information R. O’Brien was convicted and fined 30s (costs 7s). For driving a motor-car at an excessive speed in St. Aubyn Street, Waldie King was convicted, on a plea of guilty, and fined £1 (costs 7s), on the information of Inspector Day. On. the information of Inspector King, Horace Reed was charged with riding a motor-cycle in Devon Street at night without lights. He pleaded guilty and was convicted and fined £2 (costs 7s). For allowing cattle to be at large in public roads, convictions and fines were recorded as follow: Frank Ansley 5s (costs 7s); R. Tippins 10s (costs 7s); N. Allen 10s (costs 7s). Judgment was given for plaintiff by default in the following undefended cases: Fitzherbert and Fitzherbert v. Putaka Rua, £32 10s (costs £4 3s 6d); British and Continental Piano Co. v. same, £lB5 5s (costs £8 9s 6d). Judgment was given in favor of Hannah Pearn (Mr. A. A. Bennett) against W. Connolly, for the sum of £3 10s (costs £2 17s), being balance of rent due. The question of possession, for which an order was asked, was adjourned for one mon ch without prejudice.
