WAR LANDMARKS.
POILU’S STATUE AT METZ. By Telegraph.—Press Assn.—-Copyright. London, June 5. The first of the long line of landmarks has been unveiled at Dixmude inscribed “Ici fut repousse lenvahisseur” (Here the invader was repelled). The line will run from the Yser to Verdun and thence to the Swiss frontier. The invasion stones of Alsatian granite wilj be capped with a carving of a trench helmet. M. Poincare and Marshals Joffre and Fosb unveiled the statue of a Poilu at Metz, occupying the pedestal of the statue of William 1, which the people of Metz destroyed on November 17, 1918.
