While the old Republican Parliament was convened here for the first time since it was dissolved in 1917, and adop« ted a programme which aimed at the unification of China, news has canad that fighting between Wu Pei Fu anfl Chang Tsolin’s forces has been resumed along the Chinese eastern railway, near nou Feng Tai. Wu Pei Fu’s objective is the southern strip of Manchuria. Manila, June L Two American cruisers and eighteen destroyers are departing in a few days for Chinese waters, remaining several months, in connection with the Chinee* trouble. Received June 4, 5.5 p.m, Vancouver, June 2. A United Press message from Shanghai reports the probability of Stm Yat Sen resigning hast greatly decreased as the result of the victory of his troops over the Kiangsi forces, who suffered a terrible defeat in the mountain passes before Nauchang, and thousands of casualties are reported. Sun Yat Sen’s army also captured much heavy artillery, as well as machine-guns and rifles. ■ Received June 4, 11.40 p.m. Pekin, June 3. Wu Pei Fu announced that if Sun Y’at Sen persists in opposing the plans for the unification of China, he will be eliminated by the sword if necessary. He added that he will launch a drive against the southern forces without deI lay, taking the first step to oppose Sun Yat Sen’s advances in the Kiangsi provins©.
