A CHAMPION BEATEN. KNOCKED OUT BY CADMAN By Telegraph.—Press Association. Westport, Last Night. The professional bout between McCleary, the New Zealand heavyweight champion, of Christchurch (11.8%) and Laurie Cadman, of Auckland (11.8) for a purse of £lB5, scheduled to go fifteen rounds at the Westport Boxing Association’s tournament on Saturday evening, came to a sensational dose in the third round, when Cadman knocked out the champion. Until then there was little to choose between the men, except that Cadman’s blows, when delivered, were more powerful than those of McCleary. Cadman is only 22 years of age, three years the junior of McCleary. The title was not at stake. MATCH AT NAPIER. Napier, Last Night. Duke Maddox (Hastings) and Lin Robinson (Gisborne) met last night in a 15-round contest for the featherweight championship of New Zealand and a purse of £l5O. Maddox led in th first five rounds and thereafter Robinson gained points. Almost at the end of the eleventh round Maddox won on a foul, Robinson delivering a blow while his opponent was oh his hands and knees, MATCHES IN AUSTRALIA. By Telegraph.—Press Assn.—-Copyright. Received June 4, 5.5 Z p.m. Sydney, June 4. At the Stadium, Vincp Blackbum outpointed Stanley Mcßride in' a twenty-round bout. The contest was full of vion throughout, both men fighting for all they were worth. Blackburn used his left with telling effect and gradually piled up points. Mcßride came in for considerable booting for alleged doubtful tactics, holding and kidney punching. Received June 4, 5.5 p.m. Melbourne, June 4. Bert Spargo beat Walter Ross in ten rounds.
