The Ardath Tobacco Company, Ltd., manufacturers; of the State Express cigarettes, is among the Industrial concerns making good at the present time. For the year 1921 the disposable net profit, after, deducting directors’ remuneration, liberal depreciation, and providing for all taxation, amounts to £112.082, in comparison with £65,962 for 1920. The directors state that the business of the company, both at home and overseas, has successfully surmounted the difficulties of trade existing during the year, and this is nil the more satisfactory because we understand that the greater part of this profit is earned abroad. After paying interim and final dividends on the preference and preferred ordinary capital, the directors propose to again declare on the ordinary shares a dividend of 25 per cent., plus a bonus fee of income tax- of 5s per share. The reserve receives £60,000, in- comparison with £20.000 last year, making the total reserve £BO,OOO, and the carry forward is practically the same at £18,013. The balance-sheet discloses a very strong financial position.
