SCENES IN REICHSTAG. OVER RUHR OCCUPATION. By Telegraph.—Press Assn —Copyright. Berlin, May 30. Disgraceful scenes were witnessed at the week-end in the Reichstag Foreign Committee. The trouble began by Herr Stinnss stating that the occupation of the Ruhr might not be such a bad thing after all. Herr Schmidt, Socialist Minister, sharply condemned the remark, upon which Heir Helfferich retorted that the Minister need not lose his temper. Others besides Herr Stinnes thought that the Allied occupation of the Ruhr might turn out rather a good thing for Germany. Considerable disorder ensued. Herr Breotscbend told Herr Helfferich that he ought to be ashamed of himself. Herr Helfferich replied: “I will slap your face in a minute if you do not shut up,” adding “you and your friends little know where Germany is drifting to.” The pandemonium was ended by la) threat to suspend the sitting. ' z . In the subsequent debate Herr Helfferich was reminded that he had written “Capital has no patriotism,” while Herr Stinnes was alleged to have publicly said “The German Empire is merely ft big business proposition.*'
