LINCOLN MEMORIAL.

DEDICATION CEREMONY. By Telegraph.—Press Assn.—Copyright. Received May 31, 5.5 p.m. Washington, May 30. The whole of official Washington assembled at Alington to witness the dedication of the Lincoln Memorial. Mr. Taft and President Harding made the principal speeches, which were sent broadcast by wireless telephone. President Harding said Lincoln would not have abolished slavery if the Union could have been held together without its abolition. He eulogised Lincoln, but said that, like Washington, he was not a su-per-man, but a very natural human being with the mixed frailties and virtues of humanity. The President concluded with an ex> hortation to the American people to maintain unity, setting a helpful example to the world. The monument resembles a Doris temple. It required ten yars to construct the massive columns of white marble, 50 feet in height, enclosing a statue of Lincoln, 35 feet high. Ex-President Wilson was unable to attend.
