In reply to a deputation from tne Public .Servants’ Association, which asked the Government to delay the reduction in the salaries of civil servants in accordance with the decrease in. the basic wage, Mr. Bavin said it was not proposed to reduce the salaries of public servants, but what was proposed to be done was that wherever salaries had been increased on account of the basic wage those salaries must decrease wicn the decrease in the basic wage.—Aus.N.Z.
