CHINA’S UNHAPPY POSITION. By Telegraph.—Press Asuh.—Copyright Received May 30, 11.5 p.m. Peking, May 29. The Government is facing a financial crisis. Being unable to meet current expenses, the Finance Minister appealed to the provinces to remit the revenue due to the Federal Government and which they are retaining for local use. A million dollars are needed by June to pay, Government employees, and only a few thousand is left in the Treasury. The, political situation is uncertain. Memi bers of the old Parliament are assemb-i at Tientsin and Canton in anticipation that they will soon be called to assume the direction of the country affairs. —Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn.
