TARANAKI SALES. Newton King, Ltd., reports:— At Urenui on May 15, full market rates were maintained throughout, little of the yarding remaining unsold. Store pigs 16s, iambs 14s 4d. cull do. 7s 3d, full-mouth ewes 12s 4d, mixed sex 2-tooths 17s 3d, 18-month steen; 265, 30s, 335, 2%-year do. £2 10s, £2 15s, 3%-year-old bullocks £2 16s 6d, £3 10s, store cows 30s, forward do. £2 15s. weaner heifers 275. springing heifer £6 10s, springing Jersey cow £lO 10s. At Stratford on the 16tl: Inst, there was a full penning of cattle and few sheep. There was a good demand for the former, especially for young cattle showing Jersey. Other classes sold at late rates. Store cows 21s, 295, fresh conditioned do. £2, £2 12s, fat do. £3 10s, weaner heifers 30s, 38s 6d, better quality do. £2, £2 18s, Jersey do. £4 9s, £5 6s, empty heifers £4 16s, 20-unonth steers 36s €d, £2 4s, dairy cows £7, £lO. At Inglewood on the following day we had a good yarding of sheep and cattle, and report a very good sale. Inquiry was keen at the hammer for bott classes. A sharp rise •was noticeable for empty heifers and mixed classes of weaner heifers. At Rahotu on May 18 we report a full yarding and good clearance. Prices were quite on a par with late rates right throughout.
