CRICKET.

TOUR OF ENGLISH TEAM. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Christchurch, May 24. Mr. Peake, secretary of the New Zealand Cricket Council, says the English cricketers’ tour of the Dominion will be under the Marylebone Club. It was originally intended to open the tour in New Zealand, but, at Mr. Maclaren’s request, it has been agreed that the team should play first in Australia, arriving in New Zealand at the end of November, the Dominion tour to extend over eight weeks. At the conclusion the team will return to Australia for a further series of matches. The New Zealand Council has practically agreed with the Australian associations as to the conditions governing the matches in the Commonwealth, and Mr. D. Reese, who is shortly going to Australia, will complete the arrangements. In correspondence, Mr. Maclaren states that he expects to get together an excellent amateur team.
