THE DAIRY POOL.
ATTACK FROM ENGLAND. A COLONIAL IMPORTER’S VIEW. By Telegraph.—Press Assn.—Copyright. Received May 21, 5.5 p.m. London, ATay Zv. The Financial News publishes an article by a Colonial importer, declaring that those forming the New Zealand dairy produce pool have made use of the existing channels of distribution long enough to give them an elementary knowledge of marketing and distribution. They will appoint their own agents in the United Kingdom, eliminating all private firms, and thereby confiscating businesses built up by millions of capital in the past half century. The assurance given by supporters of the pool that it is intended |o distribute all produce through the existing channels is valueless, as the proposed company to finance and conduct the pool has not yet been formed, and therefore no body, has the power or authority to give such an assurance. A meeting of the Scottish Provision Trade Association at Glasgow discussed the New Zealand dairy pool, ana decided it would be injurious to the dairy industry, would lead to the loss of goodwill towards New Zealand produce. and the diversion of buying to other sources of supply. —Aus.-N.Z. fCable Assn. PROTEST AT DECISION. TARANAKI MAN’S ACTION. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Wellington, May 20. Mr. William Freeth, director of a North Taranaki co-operative dairy company, informs the Post by telegram: “The dairy pool delegates were only instructed to formulate a scheme, and have no authority to commit us. Hundreds never had a chance to discuss' the proposals, and considerable resentment is felt.”
