PLAY IN ENGLAND. By Telegraph.—Press Assn.—Copyright. Received May 21, 5.5 p.m. London, May 20. Rain interfered with cricket during the week, but there were excellent performances with bat and ball. Parkin, Durston and Cook have been mowing down wickets in very deadly fashion. Middlesex Is delighted that Hendren has returned in his best form. Essex made 154 and 158, and Notts 250 for nine wickets and 63 for two wickets. Kent made 155 and 273 for four wickets (Woolley 102 not out), and drew With Somerset, who made 332. Yorkshire made 147 and 314 for four wickets, and Derbyshire 180 and 80. Waddington took eleven wickets for 57 runs. Gloucester made 277 and 97, and Middlesex 151 and 225 for seven wickets. Received May 21, 11.5 p.m. London, May 211. Essex scored 265 against Surrey, of which Russell made 115. Lancashire have two wickets down for 377 runs against Worcester, of which Makepeace made 152 and Hallows (unfinished) 155. Yorkshire scored 342 against Northants, of which R. Kilner made 124.
