THE PREMIER’S RETURN. WELCOME ARRANGED. FOREIGN POLICY. By Telegraph.—Press Assn. —Copyright. London, May 18. Supporters of Mr. Lloyd George in both Houses are arranging a special welcome at the railway station on Saturday upon his arrival from Genoa. The letter organising the function states: “Although fully aware that there have been differences of opinion regarding the policy and possibilities of the conference, we agree that Mr. Lloyd George spared no effort to effect that ■which he believed to 'be in the best interests of Britain and European peace. Mr. Lloyd George represented us nt Genoa and fought his critics with the courage, faith and optimism which characterised his attitude in war-time. What ever the result of the conference, we would like the world to realise that not a few of us do not forget Qie splendid services he rendered in war-time and his untiring efforts since to bring Europe back to normal conditions.” The National Liberal Federation passed a resolution that Britain’s foreign policy during the last three years had been conducted deplorably, and with unfortunate results. It condemned the continual supervision and manipulation of international relations by the Supreme Council and sectional conferences. It declared that Britain’s policy ought to be peace and friendship with all countries, the League of Nations being fully and frankly relied upon as the only guarantee of lasting peace. A World League should admit Russia and Germany if they desired it and gave the requisite guarantee.
