ACCIDENTS AND FATALITIES.
A MAN MISSING. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Wellington, May 16. A boat was picked up near the Heads containing a pocket book, watch and other personal articles. In the book was a request to return the boat to the owner, E. M. Heath, of Worser Bay. The book also contained a letter apparently written by Constantine Graham, a single man, aged 26, until recently in the City Council rates office. The letter suggested that the writer was in difficulties. LITTLE GIRL INJURED. Wellington, May 16. A shocking accident on the wharf inflicted serious injuries on little Phyllis Dean, aged 9. A piece of steel projecting from a lorry caught her in the neck, crushed her against the shed and badly gashed her throat. Her condition is serious. AN INFANT’S DEATH. Gisborne, May 16. The infant child of William James Hanna died as a result of scalding through falling into a bucket of hot water. SUICIDE OF A FARMER. Dannevirke, May 17. At the inquest on George Peck, a retired farmer, latterly of Manawatu, who was found dead with his throat cut. the coroner returned a verdict that death was through a self-inflicted wound. The evidence showed that deceased’s brothers also committed suicide, CHILD DIES OF BURNS. • Wanganui, May 17. Iris Daphne Davidson, aged 12 years, was admitted to the hospital on Monday suffering from injuries due to her clothes catching fire. She oied in the hospital this morning.
