WAITARA.
(From Our Own Correspondent.) May 15'. The loading of meat from the Waitara works for the City of Winchester at New Plymouth is proceeding slowly, on account of bad weather. About 20,000 freight carcases are to go forward, as well as sundries, and 550 bales of wool from the dumping shed. At the prohibition congress held in New Plymouth last week six delegates representing the Waitomo electorate attended. Mr. H. E. Vaughan, of Waitara, was elected a vice-president. A party of card enthusiasts, to the number of 26, paid Tikorangi a visit on Thursday last, and played the farmers. The farmers came out on top by a lead of six games. A return visit is to be made in the near future. Mr. and Mrs. Jas. Hine, of Tikorangi, who bought a Waitara property some time ago, with the anticipation of taking up their residence here, are now leaving their present farm to do so. In welcoming them we trust Mr. Hine will be able to further extend his usefulness ca local bodies. 7
