THE PRICE OF PETROL.
THE INCREASE IN AMERICA. By Telegraph.—Press Asm.—Copyright. Received May 14, I’l-45 p.m. Washington, May 13. The Government intends to investigate the reason for several recent increases in the price of petrol. During the past six weeks prices have risen a cent weekly, and petrol is now selling at 29 to 31 cents a gallon. The Department of the Interior says further increases amounting to five cents are expected by the middle of June, and the vast surplus stocas makd the increases difficult to un-derstand.—Aus.-N.Z.
