RESULT OF BONUS CUT. IRONMASTERS’ ADJUSTMENTS. Christchurch, May I'2. At the annual meeting of the Canterbury branch of the New Zealand Ironmasters’ Association, the question as to the best action to adopt in connection with the general order of the Arbitration Court in reducing wages 5s per week was considered. It was resolved to observe the order, and to reduce all award wages accordingly. The agricultural implement section had already anticipated the reduction by reducing prices equivalent to a Ids 6d per week reduction in wages as from March 1, that being the commencement of the seasonable sales. The engineering section will reduce the hourly rate of charges for jobbing and open order work as from May 15. It is hoped this will react upon the trade to the extent of increasing the amount of work offering, and thus extend employment to some at least who are either on short time or entirely unemployed.
