THE TRAMWAYS.

OPERATIONS DURING APRIL. WINTER TIME-TABLE PROPOSED. Reporting on the operations of the New Plymouth tramways during April, the manager states: “It must be noted from the following returns that the revenue for the month shows a decrease of €7O 4s Bd, as compared with the corresponding month of 1-921; also 6732 fewer passengers were carried. This drop was anticipated and is easily accounted for as being due to bad weather conditions, especially during the Faster holidays. I am sure that it will be found that the traffic conditions will resemble closely those for 1921. There is one thing certain, however, that the time-table to date is too frequent for the whiter months, and I anticipate being able to reduce this slightly and issue a winter time-table towards the end of this week or the beginning of next. In this time-table it will be noted that there is also a slight alteration m the ’bus service, principally by allowing more time for the mail train passengers. Generally, everything is operating satisfactorily, and repair and overhaul worfc is being pushed ahead.” The records for the month are:— Main Route.— Mileage run, passengers carried, 137.754>; fares, £1587 I«3*

” d Morley Street Route.—l93o; 11,747 f £ Combined Routes. £l6ll 16s lOd.
