A great deal of interest was taken in the wedding, this afternoon, of Mr. Thomas Kirkwood, of the County Hotel, Stratford, and Miss Katherine Wood, daughter of Mrs. Till, of Portia Street. The Roman Catholic Church was crowded. Father Maples officiated. The bride was attired in a handsome white georgette dress over duchess satin, with a wreath of silver leaves and veil to match. She carried a bouquet of white chrysanthemums and maidenhair ferns. The bridesmaids were Miss Till and Miss Isobel Kirkwood, who wore apricot georgette over eharmeuse. The flower-girls were Miss Jean Jackson and Miss Joan Coleman, who were daintily dressed in pale blue georgette, with hats to match. Mr. E. H. Young was best man, and Mr. R. Wood was groomsman. A large number of friends gathered at the residence of the bride’s mother after the ceremony, and the wedding breakfast was partaken of in a marquee on the lawn. Mr. and Mrs. Kirkwood left this afternoon by motor-car for the south. KING’S THEATRE, SATURDAY. “EXPERIENCE.” No fashionable cabaret in New York, the city of lights, can surpass in brilliance or colour or extravagance of finish that which is used in George Fitzmaurice’s Paramount production of “Experience/ which will commence its screening at the King’s Theatre, Stratford, on Saturday afternoon next, at the matinee, commencing at 1.30 p.m. The colour scheme for the restaurant is black and gold, with a background of gold metal cloth. Huge ornate pillars, capped with metal domes, are set at intervals on the dining-room floor. A striking effect was obtained in this scene by the use of four little girls, who soared above the dancers in swings and dropped rose-leaves on the crowd below.
“Experience” is a dazzling photoplay enacted by a great aggregation of screen artists, headed by Richard Barthelmess. Gorgeous gowns, wonderful scenes of night life amid Broadway’s gayest resorts, are contrasted with dramatic situations against the background of vice in the underworld of the big city.
“Experience” is a Paramount superproduction, bigger and better than “Torbidden Fruit”’ and other specials which have been screened here. The box plan is at Humphreys, bookseller and stationer, Broadway.
