WOOL SALES.

IMPROVED PRICES AT CHRISTCHURCH. By Telegraph.—-Press Association. Christchurch, Last Night. A supplementary wool sale was held to-day. The catalogue was a small one of 2489 bales, comprising mostly odd and fellmongering lots, with a few fair-sized clips of both fine and coarse wool. The sale opened well from the outset, and better figures than at the March sale were well established throughout. All round, the increase represented from about iy t d to there being eases in both ha If bred and merino wools that showed an advance of more than 2d per lb. Fine and medium crossbred sold particularly well. The brokers’ valuations were comfortably exceeded in the bulk of the catalogue, and the passings were almost negligible, except in the cases of two clips, when the vendors’ ideas were on the high side. Home and foreign buyers apparently had ample buying orders, and for all classes of fleece wools set a good pace. Crossbred fell largely to English buyers, while finer wools went to both American and Home representatives. The local mills were not so prominent as at former sales, there being little in the catalogue to suit them. Top prices were: Merino 17d, halfbred l"d, threequarter-bred 12% d. lambs 9%d crossbred fitytd. merino pieces 13%d, hatfbred pieces 9%d, crossbred pieces 7d.!
