TEN CHARGES OF THEFT.

UNION SECRETARY Ofc TRIAI By Telegraph.— Press Association. Wellington, May 10. The trial commenced in the Supremß Court this morning of John Arbuckle, exsecretary of the New Zealand Miners’ Federation, charged with the theft, of federation moneys totalling over £2OOO, and with having made a false entry in one of the federation’s record books. There are ten charges, all dealing with specific cheques, eight represent moneys collected from various unions on behalf of the strikers at Broken Hill, while the remaining two represent dues forwarded to federation by the Pukemiro Union.
