BOXING.

TOURNAMENT AT ELTHAM. GOOD AMATEUR BOUTS. The amateur tournament held at Elttam last night drew a very large attendance. The bouts were of an interesting nature, and provided a good evening’s sport. The decisions of Mr. F. Burns, of Auckland, as referee, gave general satisfaction. The results of th© bouts were:— Flyweight. E. Stewart (Wanganui) 7.8 beat A. Collins (Stratford) 7.5 on points after an interesting four rounds. N. Cowan (Wanganui) 7.7 beat D. Childs (Stratford) 7.9, also on points. Featherweight. T. Bell (Eltham) 8.8 beat Duddlng (Stratford) 8.9, the latter being disqualified in the third round for holding after having been cautioned previously. Bantam. A. Humphries (Eltham) 8.10 beat R. Howe (Wanganui) 8.5 by a knock-out in the third Lightweights T. Cleary (New Plymouth) 9.10 and W. Gray (Wanganui) 9.9, boxed a four round draw. Gray 9.12 (Wfanganul) beat G. Sharrock (Stratford) 10.0 e.asily on points, after four rounds. Middleweight. C. Coulton (Stratford) 10.12 and Smith (New Plymouth) 12.7 gave a four round exhibition bout. Welter. R. Fitzsimmons (Matapu) 11.7 beat A. Duggan (Hawera) 10.7 on points after a spleua»a six two-minute rounds. Corliss (Wanganui) 10.7 and J . Millar (Midhirst) 10.12 had a very willing “go,” the referee stopping the bout at the end of the fifth round and declaring a draw. Heavyweight. Young (Wanganui) 12. S beat Tuku (New Plymouth) 12.2, th& referee stopping the bout in the sixth, round after a great go. In a lazy stick pull G. Gernhoefer beat P. Üblenberg, two out of three. DEMPSEY’S PLANS.
