PLUNKET SOCIETY.

MONTHLY MEETING. The monthly meeting of the New Plymouth Plunket Society was held on Monday, there being present: Mesdames Home (in the chair), H. Russell, Valentine, Loveridge, Jenkin, Roebuck, Horne, Wade, H. Fraser, Ambury, Elliot, T. Shaw, Stuart Russell, and Stocker (hon. secretary). Apologies were received from Mesdames W. Weston, Blackley, Newton King, Denny Brown, and Cock. The reports of nurses, car and finance were read and adopted. Correspondence was read from Central Council re relieving nurse. —It was decided that Nurse Castle should take her holiday as soon as Nurse Gorrie arrives. The secretary was instructed to write to the Central Council, asking if it was permissible for the society to put any surplus money away towards a Karitane Home in New Plymouth. The following is the report for the month of April: Number of babies on the list (old), 206; (new) 148. Visits paid to homes (old babies), 225; to new babies, 50. Visits received at office —adults, 193; babies, 161. Advice to expectant mothers. -9;. Letters received and answered, 10. Telephone calls, 27. Visits paid to Waitara (4 new babies there), 3; to Inglewood (4 new babies there), 7. The following sub-committees were appointed: —Executive committee, Mesdames Home (president), Ambury, W. Weston, Stuart Russell, and Stocker (secretary); house committee, Mesdames 11. Russell, Blackley, Home and Hay; finance committee, Mesdames W. Weston, H. Russell, president and secretaiw; car committee, Mrs. W. Weston.
